UTILITIES SERVICE WORKER I

(Utilities Operations)

 

Pay Ranges: $11.97/hr. - $17.73/hr. ($24,897.60 - $36,878.40/annually) 

 

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (40 hours/week) 

 

Location: 1011 Jim Keen Blvd Winter Haven, FL 33880

Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:

 

 

MAJOR FUNCTION

 

Semi-skilled work in the maintenance, installation, and repair of utility mains and appurtenances.

 

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

Sets meter services (all sizes). Repairs broken water mains and service lines (all size lines).

Repairs sewer laterals and sewer mains (all size lines). Installs water mains and sewer mains (all

sizes and types). Makes water taps on all types and sizes of mains. Makes sewer taps on all types and sizes of mains. Checks out complaints. Locates water and sewer mains. Stocks vehicle with inventory and supplies. Assists on operation of boring machine, sewer cleaning machine, backhoe and other equipment used by the work unit.

 

Performs related duties as required.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

 

Knowledge of the materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in pipe fitting and skill in

their use. Ability and agility to perform various job duties in all weather conditions including lifting and/or interacting with job related appurtenances and equipment which might weigh in excess of forty-five (45) pounds. Ability to see colors. Ability to perform tasks that require eye and hand coordination. Ability to see, ambulate independently, drive, bend, stoop, sit, and stand.

 

Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.

Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the

time of employment in this classification.

 

A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

 

Must have a home telephone at the time of employment as employee is subject to call out to

assist in emergencies.

 

This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
