Essential Job Functions

Functions as a lead worker in a customer service department providing information to the public about County departments, operations and regulations. Assigns work to customer service employees and assists in evaluating work performance.  Provides specific information about County procedures, regulations, fees, ordinances, permits, billing, and services. Receives requests for information and services. Resolves more difficult questions referred by staff.  Performs clerical duties, processes records, worksheets, logs, and applications for services. Performs data retrieval and entry into a software application.  Updates information in the computer. Generates reports from the computer. Assists citizens with inquiries, complaints, investigations, billing questions, and account information. Upon Emergency Operations Center activation, employee must be prepared to work additional hours and job duties.  Performs related work as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of standard office methods and procedures.

  • Ability to maintain records/files, prepare reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to meet and deal with the public effectively and courteously, and disseminate information.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.

  • Ability to communicate effectively via telephone, in person, in writing and on-line.

  • Ability to read for comprehension.

  • Ability to use a computer  and related software.

  • Ability to establish and maintain files accurately and legibly.

  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to assign work and direct the activities of a customer service staff.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years' of experience in customer service duties involving frequent public contact. One (1) year of experience using a personal computer and related software required.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:  Must possess a valid driver's license.
