Summary:
The Disaster Recovery Building Inspector will be responsible for assessing structural damage, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes, and supporting recovery efforts by inspecting repairs and new construction related to disaster recovery. This role is critical to restoring community safety and resilience in affected areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, and municipal structures affected by hurricane damage. Performs inspection and enforcement duties in two or more of the building trades such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical, building, heating and air conditioning.
- Assess safety and structural integrity, identifying repairs and improvements required to meet building codes.
- Provide guidance and support to contractors, property owners, and residents on safe rebuilding practices.
- Document inspection findings and issue repair or compliance orders as needed.
- Collaborate with local government agencies, emergency response teams, and engineering consultants to address safety concerns.
- Prepare detailed reports on damage assessments and track progress on recovery projects.
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Building Inspector or relevant qualifications.
- Knowledge of Florida building codes, safety regulations, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Experience in inspecting damaged structures and recommending repairs or improvements.
