CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under routine supervision, performs temporary, entry level para­professional, seasonal work in the Parks & Recreation Department at a County recreation facility. Work includes conducting games, special events, arts and crafts and other group activities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Performs entry-level para-professional work conducting games, arts and crafts, group activities, and sporting programs, in a day camp or special events program, insuring group adherence to proper disciplinary procedures.

• Ensures the safety of participants.

• Oversees the use of equipment and materials and assists in the care and maintenance of equipment.

• Completes daily paperwork and reports.

• Assists in the Before and After Care recreational programs.

• Assists in light maintenance and the general cleanliness of facilities and recreational areas.

• Performs related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Training or experience working with children is required. See knowledge, skills and abilities section for requirements of the class. Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
