CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under routine supervision, performs temporary, entry level paraprofessional, seasonal work in the Parks & Recreation Department at a County recreation facility. Work includes conducting games, special events, arts and crafts and other group activities.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Performs entry-level para-professional work conducting games, arts and crafts, group activities, and sporting programs, in a day camp or special events program, insuring group adherence to proper disciplinary procedures.

Ensures the safety of participants.

Oversees the use of equipment and materials and assists in the care and maintenance of equipment.

Completes daily paperwork and reports.

Assists in the Before and After Care recreational programs.

Assists in light maintenance and the general cleanliness of facilities and recreational areas.

Performs related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Training or experience working with children is required. See knowledge, skills and abilities section for requirements of the class. Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
