Animal Care Assistant – $15.00/hour

Schedule:
• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8-hour shifts between 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Wednesday and Saturday: 8 a.m. – 12 noon
Saturday availability is required (one Saturday off per month)

Are you passionate about working with animals? Here’s your chance to join a busy, progressive veterinary practice that’s willing to train the right candidate! We're looking for a compassionate and dependable Animal Care Assistant to support our clinic's daily operations and provide high-quality care to our furry patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Animal Care:

  • Feed, bathe, and exercise animals
  • Weigh patients and take temperatures
  • Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision (oral, ocular, topical, etc.)
  • Restrain animals safely during exams and procedures
  • Provide first aid and support pre- and post-operative care and hospitalization management
  • Assist the Veterinary Technician/Doctor in surgery
  • Provide laser therapy as directed
  • Assist with radiology and ultrasonography
  • Process laboratory samples
  • Educate clients on pet care, treatment, and wellness plans

Clinic Operations:

  • Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and exam rooms
  • Sterilize instruments and prepare equipment
  • Assist with surgical procedures, including instrument handling and discharge instructions
  • Monitor inventory and restock supplies as needed
  • Move and transport animals safely
  • Perform basic clerical duties as needed

Communication & Observation:

  • Monitor animals for signs of illness or injury and report findings
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with veterinarians and team members
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs independently
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Previous veterinary or animal care experience is a plus
  • Commitment to a drug-free workplace
