Temp for 6-8 weeks PARALEGAL
This is an advanced paraprofessional position responsible for performing specifically delegated substantive legal work on a variety of civil law matters,transactional work, and legal issues for which the City Attorney's Office is responsible.
Review, analyze, and revise contracts, resolutions, and ordinances for attorney's review. Serve as liaison between attorneys and clients
Prepare and e-file legal documents for attorney's review
Monitor on-going litigation (file and case management), data entry and database management; legal research (Westlaw), and other duties as assigned
Graduation from an American Bar Association approved paralegal/legal assistant education program supplemented by five (5) years of professional paralegal experience; or certified paralegal designation supplemented by five (5) years of professional paralegal experience required. (A comparable amount of relevant training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)
Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and/or machines, equipment, special tools as required for the job:
Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. Adobe PDF. Attention to detail; calendar deadlines; strong written and verbal communication; client service skills; critical thinking (spotting Inconsistencies or legal issues); time management (balancing multiple deadlines and priorities); learn collaboration; Familiarity with legal procedures and documentation; Knowledge or court filing rules (state and federal); Understanding of legal terminology Operate necessary equipment, including computer, calculator, copier, and other standard office equipment.
