About the Job
We are hiring a Network Cabling Technician to support and maintain our network cabling and telecommunications systems. This role involves installation, repair, and upkeep of phone systems, switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure. It’s a hands-on position that directly impacts the county’s day-to-day operations.
What You’ll Do

Install, maintain, and repair network cabling, phone systems, switches, and routers

Set up and maintain wireless access points and video surveillance systems

Oversee network cabling projects to ensure compliance with codes and standards
-
Install and configure multi-platform computer equipment and software
-
Maintain network operating systems, user rights, and security settings
-
Provide training and support for staff on hardware and software use

Document LAN/WAN systems and support technology integration

Deliver excellent customer service to employees and the public
-
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed
Qualifications

Associate degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field

Minimum 1 year experience (3 years preferred) in network infrastructure installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Valid Florida driver’s license

Ability to pass a CJIS background check and maintain Level 4 Security Awareness Certification

Strong problem-solving, documentation, and teamwork skills

Internet/Intranet connectivity and client/server systems

Ability to read technical diagrams, analyze problems, and apply solutions

Strong communication and customer service skills
Physical Requirements

Lift up to 100 lbs (team lift), 50 lbs frequently

Work indoors/outdoors in various conditions, including heights and exposure to electrical/mechanical risks
