Customer Service & Water Meter Technician

About the Job
This role is hands-on and customer-facing — you’ll perform meter readings, install and repair water meters, respond to customer questions, and help keep our water systems running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
Read, track, and record water consumption and report unusual changes (leaks, damages, high/low usage)
Meet with customers to provide education about water usage and address questions (bilingual skills preferred)
Install, clean, and repair water meters
Respond to service orders, including disconnections and reconnections
Perform preventative maintenance: cleaning, digging, lifting, spraying, and light equipment operation
Assist with route analysis and department improvements
Serve as backup at the front desk: scheduling, answering calls, assisting customers, creating reports
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or GED required
2+ years of experience in customer service (preferably in water conservation, landscaping, utilities, or related field)
Strong communication skills and ability to work with customers and internal teams
Ability to use computers, tablets, Microsoft Word, Excel (AMR software experience a plus)
Bilingual preferred
Some knowledge of plumbing repair (or willingness to learn)
Requirements
Valid driver’s license
Ability to obtain Backflow Testing Certification within one year
