Job Title: Utility Maintenance Technician / Helper (Multiple Openings – Orange County, FL)
Locations: Orlando (32824, 32825), Apopka (32703)
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (some roles 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay: $17.65 – $18.00/hr
Job Type: Temporary with the potential to become permanent
Overview:
We are currently hiring Utility Maintenance Technicians and Helpers for various Orange County locations, including Orlando (32824 & 32825) and Apopka (32703). These roles involve maintaining, repairing, and supporting water, sewer, and stormwater systems, as well as general facility maintenance in industrial and commercial environments. Key Responsibilities:
Utility & Mechanical Maintenance:
- 
Perform routine and emergency maintenance on water, sewer, and stormwater systems, including pumps, pipelines, valves, hydrants, and manholes. 
- 
Conduct inspections and diagnostic testing (pressure/flow tests) on utility infrastructure. 
- 
Operate and monitor system equipment such as pumps, compressors, and backhoes. 
- 
Respond to water main breaks, sewer overflows, leaks, and other utility disruptions. 
General Facilities Maintenance:
- 
Perform repair and maintenance tasks in commercial/industrial buildings including: - 
Lighting and fixture replacements 
- 
Basic plumbing (flush valves, sinks, etc.) 
- 
Drywall repair and painting 
- 
Door and lock hardware repairs 
- 
Pressure washing 
 
- 
- 
Diagnose and troubleshoot minor electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues. 
Support & Helper Tasks:
- 
Assist in preventative maintenance: painting, mechanical assembly, and cleaning. 
- 
Follow blueprints and instructions for mechanical work. 
- 
Assemble and install pumps and mechanical fittings. 
- 
Work safely in confined spaces and at heights up to 30 feet. 
Minimum Qualifications:
- 
High school diploma or equivalent 
- 
Valid Florida driver's license (Class A or B CDL preferred) 
- 
Ability to lift 40–50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather 
- 
Comfortable working around hazardous materials (training and PPE provided) 
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- 
2+ years in utilities maintenance, plumbing, or commercial facility repair 
- 
Experience with water distribution and wastewater systems is a strong plus 
- 
Proficiency in hand tools, power tools, and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting 
- 
Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics 
- 
Hazmat experience a plus 
- 
Strong communication and teamwork skills
