Locations: Orlando (32824, 32825), Apopka (32703)
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (some roles 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay: $17.65 – $18.00/hr
Job Type: Temporary with the potential to become permanent

 

 

Overview:

We are currently hiring Utility Maintenance Technicians and Helpers for various Orange County locations, including Orlando (32824 & 32825) and Apopka (32703). These roles involve maintaining, repairing, and supporting water, sewer, and stormwater systems, as well as general facility maintenance in industrial and commercial environments. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team with the potential for long-term employment.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Utility & Mechanical Maintenance:

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on water, sewer, and stormwater systems, including pumps, pipelines, valves, hydrants, and manholes.

  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic testing (pressure/flow tests) on utility infrastructure.

  • Operate and monitor system equipment such as pumps, compressors, and backhoes.

  • Respond to water main breaks, sewer overflows, leaks, and other utility disruptions.

General Facilities Maintenance:

  • Perform repair and maintenance tasks in commercial/industrial buildings including:

    • Lighting and fixture replacements

    • Basic plumbing (flush valves, sinks, etc.)

    • Drywall repair and painting

    • Door and lock hardware repairs

    • Pressure washing

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot minor electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues.

Support & Helper Tasks:

  • Assist in preventative maintenance: painting, mechanical assembly, and cleaning.

  • Follow blueprints and instructions for mechanical work.

  • Assemble and install pumps and mechanical fittings.

  • Work safely in confined spaces and at heights up to 30 feet.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Florida driver's license (Class A or B CDL preferred)

  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather

  • Comfortable working around hazardous materials (training and PPE provided)

 

 

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • 2+ years in utilities maintenance, plumbing, or commercial facility repair

  • Experience with water distribution and wastewater systems is a strong plus

  • Proficiency in hand tools, power tools, and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting

  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics

  • Hazmat experience a plus

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
