General Functions The Maintenance technician performs a variety of maintenance, service, and repair tasks that may involve buildings, facilities, mechanical equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, or carpentry etc. utilized in the operations of the assigned divisions. Work is assigned and reviewed by a designated supervisor. Performance is evaluated through observation of work in progress and upon completion for achievement of desired results in a safe and efficient manner. Representative Duties/Assignments Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification. General Maintenance / Grounds Performs quality assurance inspections of contracted landscape contractors for assigned facilities. Performs grounds inspections of County properties to ensure landscapes, sidewalks, parking lots, and storm water drainage systems are in proper working condition. Performs repairs of landscapes, sidewalks, parking lots, irrigation systems, and storm water drainage systems. Document daily work/travel on hand-held electronic device for the purpose of maintaining maintenance records. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from a High school or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in skill trade, craft, or maintenance experience. May be required to possess and maintain the appropriate valid Commercial Driver’s License for the type of equipment operated. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License by date of hire. Prefer someone with electrical experience.
