Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join one of our clients. This role is a 6 month contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and processing accounts payable transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role requires a strong understanding of governmental accounting principles, general ledger accounting, and GAAP. The Accounts Payable Clerk will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.

 

Duties

  • Receive, process, and verify invoices and payment requests.

  • Accurately code and enter invoices into accounting software.

  • Match purchase orders with invoices and resolve discrepancies.

  • Prepare and process payments to vendors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any billing issues or discrepancies.

  • Maintain and update vendor files and records.

  • Communicate effectively with vendors and internal staff regarding payment inquiries and related issues.

  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

  • Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field is beneficial.

  • 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting is required.

  • A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles is needed.

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), are necessary.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are required.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines is essential.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are needed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and vendors, are required.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team is required.
