Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join one of our clients. This role is a 6 month contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and processing accounts payable transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role requires a strong understanding of governmental accounting principles, general ledger accounting, and GAAP. The Accounts Payable Clerk will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.
Duties

Receive, process, and verify invoices and payment requests.

Accurately code and enter invoices into accounting software.

Match purchase orders with invoices and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare and process payments to vendors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any billing issues or discrepancies.

Maintain and update vendor files and records.

Communicate effectively with vendors and internal staff regarding payment inquiries and related issues.

Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field is beneficial.

2-3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting is required.

A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles is needed.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), are necessary.

Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are required.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills; the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines is essential.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are needed.
