General Machine Operator - Weekend Shift

AppleTree Staffing is now hiring General Machine Operators for a manufacturing client looking to grow their team in Johnson County! This is a full-time weekend position (NOT a TEMP job).

The General Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating production machinery to support daily manufacturing goals. This role includes machine setup, monitoring, quality inspection, basic maintenance, and ensuring a clean and organized work area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, configure, and operate machinery according to production specifications, blueprints, or work instructions. Load raw materials and adjust machine settings as needed.

  • Observe machine performance throughout each run to identify irregularities, malfunctions, or potential issues before they impact production.

  • Inspect finished products to verify they meet quality and dimensional standards. Accurately document inspections and promptly escalate defects to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks—such as cleaning, lubricating, and simple adjustments—to keep equipment functioning properly.

  • Identify and resolve minor mechanical or operational problems to minimize downtime and keep production on schedule.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE and safe machine-handling practices.

  • Complete production logs, quality check sheets, and any required reporting with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Communicate with fellow operators, technicians, and supervisors to coordinate workflow and support a smooth production process.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Prior manufacturing or machine-operation experience preferred; willing to provide training for motivated candidates.

  • Strong understanding of machine functions, tools, and basic mechanical principles.

  • Ability to identify inconsistencies or defects in both products and equipment.

  • Capable of evaluating issues quickly and applying practical solutions.

  • Comfortable standing for long periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others toward shared goals.

  • Ability to input data, use control software, or complete digital reports.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and operating manuals when required.
