POSITION OVERVIEW

Operate delivery trucks, pick-ups, trailers, etc, to pick up and deliver materials, supplies, equipment, etc. for all divisions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and inspect transport vehicle, trailer, strapping devices, etc. for safe transport of goods in conjunction with DOT standards and company policy.

  • Load, unload or assist in loading or unloading vehicle, trailer, etc; secure loads before transporting.

  • Plan route at the direction of the Purchasing & Inventory Control Supervisor; perform deliveries safely and timely within expected schedule limits; remain accessible by cell phone during all deliveries; report delivery delays immediately to your Supervisor; make adjustments to delivery schedule as directed.

  • Deliver or pick up goods and related paperwork to/from expected destination; return signed packing slips, bills of lading, receipts, etc. within prescribed procedures.

  • Service vehicle, trailer, etc. needs for fuel, oil, minor lubrication, fluid levels, etc. typically associated with normal use; advise Purchasing & Inventory Control Supervisor of any major vehicle or trailer repairs that may be required.

  • Keep current a valid operator’s license as required by law.

  • Maintain a safe working environment; promote and follow safe work practices; comply with all company safety standards.

  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork relating to job tasks and report on tasks performed daily per procedure.

  • Report all accidents or unsafe operating conditions immediately.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area; clean up delivery vehicles, trailers, etc at the end of each shift; maintain vehicles in a clean, professional image.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or G.E.D., or a minimum six months working experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience as determined by the Purchasing & Inventory Control Supervisor or Operations Manager; must be able to read maps, instructions, documentation, etc.; must have a valid driver’s license in compliance with all DOT regulations; must be forklift certified.

This job requires that the employee occasionally bend, twist, reach and lift of up to 50 lbs. The employee must be able to hear and communicate verbally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
