Job Summary:

The Material Handling Specialist (Shipping / Receiving) is responsible for safely and accurately handling incoming and outgoing materials, in accordance with the training manual, OSHA regulations, as well as maintaining explicit records of specific types, quantities, and quality of those materials. This is of the utmost importance, as it affects the accuracy of our inventory, and the proper service extended to our customers. This requires a particular attention to detail.


Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for material movement (Sit-down Forklift and EPJ) and storage as well as associated computer transactions.

• Responsible for all safety rules and regulations per OSHA requirements as well as safety policy while performing job duties.




1. Receive incoming products from vendors and customers.

2. Verify exact item, accurate counts and the condition of these materials.

3. You must place incoming stock material into appropriate locations and complete the delivery transaction by delivering completed paperwork to the Logistics Supervisor.


• Quality control is paramount in this system. Orders must be checked for accuracy of paperwork (example: tag line matches materials in kit), for proper build (example: correct valve stems to be able to hold up to the pressure for the given assembly), and correct materials according to the paperwork.

• Ship sales orders, internally generated requests to customers, and internal transfer orders per specified shipping instructions.

• Perform corresponding transactions using freight carrier specifications. Arrange for product pick up in accordance with shipping instructions.

• Pick customer sales order, internal transfer orders, warehouse assembled kits, inventory requisitions and perform all associated transactions.

• Communicate with all internal departments and personnel via e-mail or phone to provide status of material movement activity, especially regarding critical situations.

• Perform physical inventory counts as required and assist in reconciling discrepant material.

• Understand the daily work schedule and delivery requirements and perform work to achieve on time delivery.

• Operate manual and powered material handling equipment, i.e forklift, pallet jack.



Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Moderate problem solving skills using material movement records and various computer programs.

• Internal and external customer service skills.

• Basic math skills and ability to operate a calculator.

• Ability to operate/learn all computer and associated software applications.

• Well organized, with the ability to track multiple activities involving numerous details.

• Possess problem solving skills and good judgment in dealing with competing priorities, limited resources, and time pressure.

• Safely operating yard jockey for the moving of trailers around the lot, including backing into and out of docking bays.



• Forklift experience required.

• Experience in all areas of warehouse operation: receiving, warehousing and shipping.

• Ability to lift 75 pounds repetitively, along with repetitive bending, twisting .

• Ability and willingness to work daily, along with overtime as required.

• Computer literacy


Education/Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• 1 year material handling/warehouse experience preferred
