Job Summary
Set up, operate, and/or tend grinding and related tools used in production of steel windows and doors. Level 1 focus is on using the Abrasive Wheel
Essential Functions

Set up, operate, or tend Abrasive Wheel to remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, of metal workpieces. (80-90%)

Select machine tooling to be used, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements.

Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, or other hand-held tools.
-
Lift and position workpieces, manually or with hoists, and secure them in hoppers or on machine tables, using clamps.

Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of the tool operation.

Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct problems.

Completes process instructions on Travelers.

Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensures safe operation of all equipment.

Works on special projects and performs other duties as needed. (10-20%)

Knowledge and Abilities

Able to interpret instructions both written and oral.

Able to work in a team with co-workers to resolve work-related issues.

Knowledge of basic shop math, including the ability to measure to 1/32”.

Able to learn to read, understand, and interpret production drawings and shop orders.

Able to maintain a 60% production efficiency rating.

Able to maintain an error rate less than 10%.

Able to work with some supervision, 30% or less of schedule.

Experience

Previous work experience in manufacturing setting preferred but not required
