JOB DETAILS

 

Job Title: Controller

Department: Finance/Human Resources

Reports to: President

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

Plan, direct, and manage all aspects of financial activities, human resource initiatives, risk management, and office administration.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepare all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and reports for government regulatory agencies.

• Prepare budgets and perform internal audit functions.

• Review reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals and suggest methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.

• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements for each department and all companies.

• Reconcile and verify General Ledger entries.

• Reconcile bank statements.

• Manage the functions of the ESOP.

• Ensure all human resource efforts are in accordance with strategic goals of the company and are consistently administered.

• Streamline business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the HR Department.

• Develop company policies and objectives.

• Oversee the development and administration of benefits programs and compensation structures, organizational structure and development, performance management, training and professional development, employee recruitment and retention, diversity and affirmative action processes, risk management policies, safety and health initiatives.

• Provide leadership and consulting support to company executives and management on matters of goals setting, policy development, and strategic implementation in support of achieving corporate objectives and business growth.

• Serve as internal consultant to managers and advisor/mediator in employee relations.

• Meet regularly with Director of Operations and President in order to keep informed, coordinate and prioritize planning, and to offer direction.

• Perform any other duties as directed.

• Attend all appointments, meetings, and training sessions as directed by the President.

• Fully understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Safety Plans and Programs, and Handbook.

• Maintain appearance and attitude in such a way as to positively portray the company internally and externally.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

• Minimum of 10 years Human Resources and Finance experience.

• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Intelligent and articulate and can relate to people at all levels of an organization.

• Good educator who is trustworthy and willing to share information and serve as a mentor.

• Proficient knowledge of computers and software including Windows; Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; and QuickBooks.

• Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP.

• Superior written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent mathematics skills: ability to compute formulas, ratios, percentages

• Time Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

• Planning: ability to think ahead and plan over a short and long time span.

• Problem analysis and problem resolutions at both a strategic and functional level.

• Ability to work in a diverse environment.

• Commitment to safety policies and procedures.

• Commitment to Affirmative Action Plan.
