Job Title: Production Operator

Position reports to: Production Manager

Wage: $27-$30/hour Based on Experience and skill

Duties and Responsibilities

Our client, a leading innovative specialty Chemical Group has an opening for a Production Operator

The Production Operator may conduct test measure finished products and record their activities and manufacturing levels. The candidate is responsible for setting up and adjusting machines and monitoring them for unusual noises or movements. The Operator may be required to mix and handle chemicals, record information and observations relating to the mixing process, troubleshoot issues with equipment, and assist in process improvement initiatives and the work plan development process.


The operator may meet with co-workers and managers to ensure that the results of their activities meet the company's requirements and customer's needs.

Key duties include but not limited to the following: 

  • Storing, retrieving, mixing, and monitoring chemicals, specifically zinc, used in the production process.
  • Recording information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature.
  • Reporting accidents, safety violations, or other concerns.
  • Assisting in planning and improving processes and product quality.
  • Working with other team members to complete the production process.
  • Meeting physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, climbing, crouching, operating tools, and wearing safety gear.
  • Operate the production equipment according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor critical data and enter the data into the computer system and onto the hard copy SOP forms.
  • Troubleshoot any problems or deviations and take appropriate actions.
  • Responsible for off-shift plant security, following all applicable DHS requirements.
  • Operate in an environmentally sound and safe manner following all OSHA guidelines and appropriate regulations, observing all company, local, State and Federal safety and quality regulations.
  • Operate the production equipment according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor critical data and enter the data into the computer system and onto the hard copy SOP forms.
  • The operator is responsible for other items as deemed appropriate by plant management.


General Requirements

Candidate must be professional with a strong understanding of mechanical and chemical processes. The ideal candidate will be attentive, knowledgeable, and have a desire to work with other production team members to develop the best processes and products.


Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a manufacturing plant.
  • Problem solving, analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills a must
  • Experience working with forklifts may be preferred or required.
  • Understanding of chemical process.
  • Aptitude for mechanics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using databases and internet.
  • Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check and pre-placement physical (including respirator) and pre-employment drug-screen.


Working Conditions:

Strength: Requires work in manufacturing plant using potentially hazardous chemicals and equipment. Standing 60% of time, sitting 30% of time and Walking 10% of time, lifting 55 lbs., occasional lifting and carrying pails of product.

Speaking & Hearing: Interact with all plant groups as well as the plants environmental consultants.

Seeing: Must be able to read and follow written instructions.
