PRODUCTION WORKER


Pay Rate $12.00

Job Purpose

  • To produce steel bushings and pins conforming to quality standards in a safe, efficient manner.

 

Tasks

  • Initially, employee will operate machinery used in the production process, and assist other machine operators, as needed.  Operation includes loading parts and removing parts according to instructions.

  • Initially, employee will keep track of inspection intervals and contact an inspector when inspection is due.

  • Employee will be trained to observe equipment operations so that problems can be detected, and then notify supervisor of the problems.

  • Employee will transfer finished products between work areas of plant using hand trucks or powered lift trucks.

  • Eventually, employee will be trained in the proper use and handling of various measuring equipment to perform his own inspections, according to specific instructions.

  • The performance of process inspections will include alerting a supervisor with any nonconforming measurements.

  • Employee will count finished parts to determine if specified order requirements are met.

  • Employee would learn to mark or tag identification on parts and/or containers.

  • Employee will perform other duties such as cleaning work areas and equipment.

 

Work Context

Physical Demands

  • The employee will occasionally walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee will regularly stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee will be required to constantly communicate with others and listen to instructions from supervisors. 

Lifting Requirements

  • The employee will be required to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis. 

Visions Required

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and requires the ability to adjust focus. 


Work Environment

  • The employee would regularly work near moving mechanical parts, and will be required to protective gear, such as gloves, glasses, and ear plugs.

 

 

Detailed Work Activities

  • Produce parts according to shop order requirements and quality guidelines.

  • Clean work areas.

  • Count finished products or workpieces.

  • Mark products and/or containers with identifying information.

  • Move product between work areas.

  • Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs.

  • Record inspection/production data.

  • Sort parts.

  • Watch operating equipment to detect problems.

  • Weigh finished products.

 

 

Skills Required

  • The employee will be required to understand how to operate various types of equipment.   Operation includes the ability to know how and when to make adjustments, as necessary.

  • The employee will eventually be expected to set up, operate and oversee whatever machine he is assigned to.

  • The employee will be expected to be able to use good judgement to identify problem parts and/or equipment problems.  The employee will be expected to be able to determine when parts are acceptable to be released to the next department.

  • The employee will be expected to give full attention to trainers and supervisors, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • The employee will need to communicate with others to convey information effectively.

  • The employee must have the ability to work independently and efficiently manage his own time to optimize the output of his department.
