Plant Manager - Warren, PA


Pay: $60,000-80,000/Year. Depending on experience


Summary: Lead contact which is responsible for scheduling and enforcing daily requirements. Responsible for the planning and coordination of all press line activities. Assures press associates adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations, the current ISO9000 standard requirements, and the Company’s Quality Management System.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an on-time press schedule.
  • Assign associates to designated job assignments.
  • Perform daily quality line checks.
  • Directs material-handlers, press operators, and press finishing associates.
  • Motivate and train hourly associates to reach top productivity.
  • Understand and comply with ISO/QMS procedures.
  • Evaluate associates.
  • Understand and enforce company rules.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Assist with press set-ups and verification of accurate completion (sign off of set-up form).
  • Perform necessary computer related functions.
  • Ensure safety of associates.
  • Handle personnel issues with respect and confidentiality. Understand applicable legal and liability ramifications.
  • Oversees the implementation of all customer, tooling and revision and /or corrections as direct by Sales Engineer, within the quoted time frame or better.
  • Issues necessary paperwork, coordinates the pressing, inspection, finishing, and shipping of samples. Also, formulates and creates manufacturing process routing information. Provides pertinent information relative to production set-up and run criteria.
  • Coordinates and works within the schedule of all sample runs so that the impact upon production pressing and finishing capacities is minimized while satisfying customer requirements. This coordination is a cooperative effort between Senior Engineer, Production Planner, and applicable pressing and finishing department heads. The Production Engineer may perform sampling and finishing duties but may require assistance from department lead personnel.
  • Provides information regarding tool (mold) status, through appropriate assigned individual(s), as requested by customer.
  • The Production Engineer is personally responsible for the tuning-in of tooling to achieve the part dimension desired by the customer, while maintaining the parts’ general quality of appearance and the efficiency with which it is produced.
  • When assigned, will work to reduce scrap percentages and variance reduction programs.
  • Undertakes special project work, as assigned, which is of a technical nature to provide new methods to assure high quality products at competitive costs.
  • Assumes responsibility for the manufacturing of new products: establishes an engineering file on each job and participates in the Engineering Meetings on new tooling programs to specify basic tooling and finishing requirements.
  • Actively supports and participates in the design and tuning-in procedures of new molds, inserts, insert loaders, finishing fixtures, gages and coordinates efforts to secure the necessary equipment and materials thereto.
  • Will fill in as a temporary supervisor and oversee new programs and areas where their expertise can be utilized and directed to fill requirements.
  • Assist as Manufacturing Supervisor to fill in form absences/vacations as requested by Manufacturing
  • Will participate as a team member to meet company and departmental goals and objectives.


Physical Demands:

  • Job requires assisting with heavy equipment and tools. May require strenuous pushing or heavy lifting. Use of some hand tools may also require strenuous pulling or pushing.
  • Very few of the duties are repetitive or automatic. Constant mental and visual attention is required when using hand and powered tools and equipment, working with presses and forklift trucks.
  • Creativity is required to solve equipment problems and improve processes and procedures.
  • Leadership skills are required to organize and direct complex assignments.


Types of Material or Products Handled: Metal molds (can range to 400 degrees F when in operation), tooling, fixtures, wood and metal platforms, hoses, lubricants, mix, finished plastic product (may be extremely hot), pallets, tape gun.


Types of Tools and Equipment Used: Forklift trucks, hand jacks, drills, presses (compression and injection), sanders, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, knives, razor blades.


Work Environment: Factory work floor environment. Requires work in and around hot compression and injection presses. Work with dirty, oily, hot equipment. May require working in tight places and awkward positions. Work with fiberglass and hazardous materials (resins, styrene, and solvents).


Maintaining the Work of Others

  • Responsible to interface with Human Resources, Scheduling, Purchasing, Engineering and all other manufacturing personnel.
  • Maintain schedule and quality requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Performance of job directly effects hourly production associates’ ability to meet customer and company requirements.
