Maintenance Tech - Warren, PA


Pay: $37,000-$45,000/ Year, Depending on experience


Summary: Works individually or in teams to:

  • Maintain production tooling and equipment for thermoset plastic parts in hydraulic compression presses, and secondary finishing tooling.
  • Performs technical maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting and repair tasks on tooling, production/plant equipment, and building systems/components.


Necessary Education/Experience:

  • Multicraft Apprenticeship certificate (or comparable training) and 4-6 years maintenance experience in an established trade skill.
  • Data entry or maintenance work. Knowledge or ERP, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Systems. ISO 9001:2015 a plus.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work production setups.
  • Troubleshoot tooling, production/plant equipment, and building systems/components using equipment documentation (manuals, schematics, drawings, troubleshooting guides) and diagnostic tools and equipment (electronic test meters and computerized diagnostic equipment).
  • Perform technical preventative and predictive maintenance tasks on tooling, production/plant equipment, and building systems/components according to preventative maintenance work orders using equipment documentation and diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Replace, repair and modify tooling, production/plant equipment and building/systems/components as directed by corrective and improvement work orders, supervisors and maintenance leads.
  • Identify and initiate maintenance process improvements.
  • Identify and document preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Initiate work orders and purchase requisitions for any corrective work requirements that are detected.
  • Retrieve maintenance parts and supplies as needed from maintenance stores.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Engineer.
  • Log time, material used, and observations in a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Provide on the job training for Apprentice Maintenance Mechanics.
  • Perform all duties according to established company Safety, Operating, and Environmental and Quality Policies.


Physical Demands:

  • Job requires positioning heavy equipment and tools. May require strenuous pushing or heavy lifting (up to 80 lbs.). Use of some hand tools may also require strenuous pushing or pulling.
  • Very few of the duties are repetitive or automatic. Constant mental and visual attention is required when using hand and powered tools and equipment, cranes and fork lift trucks.
  • Creativity is required to solve problems and improve processes and procedures.


Types of Tools and Equipment Used:

  • All types of hand tools (depending on skill being performed).
  • Electrical and pneumatic portable power tools (drills, grinders, screw guns, impact wrenches, saws, power nailers, etc.).
  • Powered shop equipment (saws, drill presses, pipe threaders).
  • Welder (mig and tig).
  • Basic analog and digital test instruments (VOM's, temperature indicators).
  • Computers for checking assignments and logging time, material and observations.
  • Overhead Cranes.
  • Ladders and powered work platforms (up to 20 feet).
  • Powered industrial trucks.


Work Environment:

  • Working with dirty, dusty, oily, noisy and hot tools and equipment.
  • Working in tight places and awkward positions.
  • Working on ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Working with fiberglass and hazardous materials (resins, styrene and solvents).
