Quality Engineer

1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 annually

 

We are currently seeking experienced candidates for an automotive production facility in Pulaski, TN.

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Provides assistance to OE customers engineering through the different stages of product development (APQP) until final product and process approval (PPAP)

  • Provides support to customer assembly plants in US, Canada regarding installation of MM lighting products and support in problem solving.

  • Addresses and follow up on corrective actions regarding any Quality issues that have risen from customer assembly line.

  • Implements and manages the Quality System activities on Technical Center.

  • Reviews and disposes of issues relating to non conforming and/or suspect materials and products

  • Develops all manufacturing quality related documents, testing procedures, and inspections methods for the manufacturing team and trains employees on such items.

  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for dispositions of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.

  • Approve supplier control plans to ensure that suppliers have met the production and quality requirement for specific components or services provided.

  • Report to customer with root cause analysis, containment activities, corrective actions, and preventative actions as needed.

  • Manages customer information data base (Covisint, Chrysler Portal, GM Supplypower, etc). Answers Non Conformances tickets and follows up defined actions to their closure.

  • Visits customer facilities to perform customer satisfaction surveys, to drive continuous improvement and to assist with problem resolution as necessary.

  • Assist on supplier development and on monitoring their performance.

  • Follows safety and environmental procedures and standards in order to maintain a safe working environment and to minimize the impact to our environment

 

Ability to work in a process environment as a team player; some travel required, excellent interpersonal skills; excellent verbal communication skills; excellent work planning and work management skills; must be able to read and understand basic work instructions, product labels and bills of material, must be able to perform basic math, demonstrated ability to use all position technical tools and technical computer software including Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint and Project. Strong knowledge of Quality tools used on the automotive industry (APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, Covisint, Layered Audit process, ISO/TS 16949). Ability to work independently, excellent work management skills; familiarity with mechanical drawings and technical specifications; knowledge of automotive customer specific requirements and procedures.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Technical degree or associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college (manufacturing technology or industrial technology (preferred)

  • Three to five year’s related experience or training preferably from the automotive industry.

  • 4 years working in industrial Quality environment can substitute for degree

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma (preferred)

  • Previous experience with shock absorbers and/or suspension systems (preferred)

  • Proficiency in foreign languages (preferred)
