Immediate opportunity for experienced Collectors to join a reputable loan portfolio servicing agency’s Baltimore office. The Collections representative is responsible for making outbound collection calls to collect payments on past due accounts and negotiate payment plans if necessary. Ideal candidates will have experience collecting for the mortgage industry.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Complete collection call queues within the assigned time-frame

  • Negotiate workout plans and forbearance agreements

  • Handle high volume of incoming and outgoing collection calls

  • Process check-by-phone requests received from borrowers

  • Process bankruptcy notifications

  • Process exception payments

  • Handle credit reporting disputes and process credit report corrections

  • Timely response to borrower inquiries both verbal and written and according to RESPA guidelines

  • Contact with client as it applies to delinquent borrowers and portfolios

  • Review financials

  • Review unapplied balances weekly

  • Process payments received daily, prepare spreadsheet for posting, and deposit checks

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years mortgage collection experience; previous experience collecting at 90+ day delinquency preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as promissory notes, deeds of trust, mortgages, and title reports

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from borrowers, clients, and managers

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest rates, principal and interest applications, and late charges

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of unique situations

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations

  • Basic operation of all general office equipment

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment

  • Must have excellent written and oral skills to effectively communicate with clients, borrowers, and staff of all levels

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to prioritize

  • Thorough understanding of FDCPA, FCRA, RESPA UDAPP-CFPB, and Service Members Relief Act

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
