Immediate opportunity for a Systems Design Manager to join a major construction effort in Prince George’s County. The Systems Design Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a project team to oversee the design and construction of the Communications and Signaling systems. This will include managing multiple stakeholders including design consultants, direct hire staff, several major subcontractors and associated government and regulatory authorities. The Systems Design Manager will adopt a strong focus on commercial management to mitigate risk and ensure the project budget is achieved so it is essential to have this capability. Ideal candidates will be experienced in the design of signaling, ATP control systems and supervision systems, as well as in the coordination of the interfaces and the operation between the signaling systems, rolling stock, OCC and other railway systems; both for main lines and the 2 yards.
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Design or Construction Management
Minimum 10-15-year relevant rail experience or 10 years’ minimum post-graduate experience on major D&B rail projects working for construction contractors
Proven success in a similar senior level role on other major rail infrastructure projects from design through to commissioning
Highly developed commercial acumen to track and report on project costs while managing risk
Strong demonstrated focus on meeting HSEQ deliverables
