Key Responsibilities: Safe Transportation: Safely operate company-owned or leased trucks to transport lumber and wood products to designated locations. Loading and Unloading: Assist with the loading and unloading of lumber using appropriate equipment and techniques to ensure secure transportation. Route Planning: Plan efficient routes to optimize delivery schedules and minimize fuel consumption while considering factors such as traffic, weather, and road conditions. Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine inspection and maintenance checks on assigned vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel for prompt resolution. Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, including delivery logs, trip reports, and inspection forms. Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure the safe and legal operation of vehicles. Maintain a clean driving record and valid commercial driver's license (CDL). Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate deliveries and address any inquiries or concerns. Safety Protocols: Follow established safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries while operating vehicles and handling lumber. Qualifications: Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Previous experience in commercial driving, preferably in the transportation of lumber or similar bulky materials. Knowledge of safe driving practices and transportation regulations. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading lumber. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately. Flexibility to work irregular hours and adapt to changing schedules. Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) repeatedly. Stamina to withstand long hours of sitting and driving. Agility to maneuver and operate vehicles safely in various weather conditions and terrain.
