Position Purpose:

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the manufacturing operation. Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control all warehouse activities. Assist top management in establishing and achieving performance objectives, metrics and strategic plans for the facility. Accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives regarding costs, productivity, and profits.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assign and monitor employees in the performance of diverse duties in terms of productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.

  • Investigate and resolve part discrepancy and delivery issues

  • Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are obtained within the cost, revenue, and profit parameters established for the facility

  • Work with engineering and manufacturing departments to facilitate production of parts that must be produced for customers

  • Maintain metrics concerning critical business performance criteria

  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to supervise, counsel and discipline employees

  • Provide input to HR regarding hiring, training, development, discipline, performance evaluations, wage increases, and terminations

  • Keep abreast of relevant new technology and make recommendations as applicable

  • Demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts

  • Consistently display and foster good communication with employees at all levels

  • Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress or emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments

  • Interact professionally when interacting with customers and employees

  • Work in an environmentally responsible manner

  • Understand and support Company philosophies, goals and directions

  • Produce and maintain a consistent quality of work

  • Recommend improvements for area product and processes

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Education/Learning Experience:

  • College education; advanced degree a plus

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proven upward progression and increased responsibility

  • A strong Lean Manufacturing knowledge and practice base

  • A solid understanding of the financial impacts of operational actions

Work Experience:

  • Previous manufacturing experience is required

  • A demonstrated track record of effectiveness and team building

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Microsoft Office knowledge

  • General computer knowledge

  • ERP System knowledge and exposure (such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit use hands, reach, talk, hear, taste or smell

  • Vision requires close focus, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and focus adjustment

 

Work Environment:

Office/warehouse environment. Employee may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting etc.

 

Salary $80,000-95,000 DOE + comprehensive benefits and quarterly bonus opportunity
