PURPOSE OF JOB The purpose of the Heavy Equipment Operator is to excavate and move diatomaceous earth, dirt, rock, sand and other raw materials II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Fluidly and effectively move machine, create and move stockpiles and an ability to dig, lift, swing and dump contents of shovel into truck, car, conveyor, hopper or stockpile • Responsible for the safe operation of equipment, follow all traffic rules on and off the company property • Meet and exceed productivity standards in a timely manner and adapt to changes in the work environment • Specific vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. • Maintain telephone or radio contact with Supervisor to receive instructions • Inspect equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water • Assist in performance of emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, etc. • Inspect equipment for defects before, during and after shifts and submit report indicating equipment condition • Follow all federal and state safety regulations and company safety policies/procedures • Keep the equipment clean and presentable • Perform equipment maintenance as required • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both written and verbal in the English language when performing the job requirements III.
