The Department of Public Safety Investigation Division is recruiting for the position of Safe2Tell Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist position performs a variety of communications and administrative duties, including but not limited to: answering, receiving, vetting, calls and contacts through a telephone hotline, mobile application and the internet; communicating, and two way dialoging with individuals providing tips to an anonymous tip platform, inputting calls or dialog data into a software program; forwarding data to recipient(s), monitoring the status of tips forwarded to recipient(s), communicating with recipient(s) via the telephone, fax, email, etc.; maintaining records and files, planning, and preparation, composing and editing correspondence; data entry, office management, scheduling, as well as a variety of assigned projects and reports for staff and management. This position works closely with all Department of Public Safety employees, allied agencies, non-governmental agencies, community partners and citizens. Candidate must be willing and able to work shift work, holidays and weekends.
Skills required:
Basic/Intermediate computer skills
Able to navigate through computer programs (non-descript),
Typing skills, Able to hear while on phone, and see computer- system is non adaptable
People and communication skills.
Able to receive verbal information and type the information accurately and swiftly.
Able to read and comprehend
Confidentiality and training thereof, required
Able to communicate with children in a non-biased manner.
Able to work in a team, and accept constructive criticism.
