RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform clerical accounting work to include the maintenance of accounts and accounting records.  Receive invoices and billings and process completely and accurately following policies and processes established. 

2. Review Purchase Orders for accuracy and compliance with State, Controller, Department policies, procedures and processes and contract compliance. 

3. Review incoming vendor statements and reconcile, contacting vendor for any missing invoices and completing process to ensure vendors are paid for services or products received.

4. Check for and correct coding errors before entry in Advantage and using Journal Vouchers to correct any errors or changes.

5. Reconcile Transaction Logs (T-Log) for all debits and credits for assigned budgets on a weekly basis. 

6. Assist in answering and responding to Finance Department phone line calls and Finance Department email received. 

7. Receive interment paperwork and process deposits and filing of all corresponding paperwork while keeping log current and accurate. 

8. Deposit and process all revenue according to Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) and State Administrative Manual (SAM). Logging and tracking of payments following established procedures. 

9. Review and verifies accounting documentation pertinent to accounts payable, cash disbursements and receipts, posting, balancing, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts for assigned budgets. 

10. Assist in the preparation of, and reviews, travel claims and mileage reimbursements for payment. Research statistical information for budget and/or report preparation and reconciles reports by locating problems or discrepancies and correcting them. 

11. Maintain computer expertise to include Microsoft Office suite of applications, Advantage, and Data Warehouse of Nevada (DAWN). 

12. Demonstrate knowledge of standard accounting procedures and applies training to complete task assigned and resolve situations that may arise. 

13. Participate in veteran-related events, when requested. 

14. Perform other duties as assigned by first line supervisor and chain of command on a temporary or permanent basis. 


REQUIRED ASSOCIATED FACTORS: 

1. Ability to clear a State of Nevada/FBI background check under the Department’s standards.

2. Ability to be tested and vaccinated for COVID-19 as required by the Department. 

3. Must attend the state financial management training, pass and re-certify as required. 

4. Ability to make decisions related to billing as related to state and federal requirements. 

5. Continually, fulfill the Safety Program requirements of the Nevada Department of Veterans Services and the State of Nevada and observe all applicable safety rules to ensure a safe environment for staff and the public. 

6. Ability to use a personal/laptop computer with intermediate skill using Microsoft Office or similar computer applications.
