Mill Hand Position Position Summary: Catch bars exiting from finish pass, trim ends/cut to length, stack in cooling rack, pick up/weigh finish bars and dispose of scrap. Main Duties: - Candidates will catch, hold straight, de-twist, and drag bars upon exiting from the finish stand. - Maintain guide and side guards to' ensure consistency of bars existing the finish stand. - Work together with the hot saw operator / bullhead runner to accurately and efficiently coordinate the cut length of the bar. Additional Duties: - Operation of how saw, and material handling equipment. - Work together with the mill crane operator and mill material handler to pick up bars after the heat is over. Making sure it's being weighed and tagged Dump scrap metal in its proper place (by metal segregation) - Help change rolls and assist in set up of all roll stands - Back up and have the knowledge to perform other operations on the mill (hot saw, etc.) as required - Report any problem that should arise, before/after or during roll process immediately to the mill supervisor - Stack bars on the cooling rack Help load metal into the furnaces Education and/or Experience: Knowledge of the PRP ISO procedure 751-01 is required. Ability to read a tape measure. Forklift & crane training are required. Language Skills: Capable of understanding basic verbal directions in English language. Able to read and write in the English language as needed. Special Skills: Basic math skills (addition, subtracting, multiplication and division). Ability to perform the functions, shown in the following section. Physical Demands: Normal manual dexterity. Ability to lift, push, pull and carry bars up to 200 pounds
