General Objectives: Reporting to the PM/Wash Bay Supervisor, the Wash Bay Technician typically works a rotating 5/4 dayshift schedule. The Wash Bay Technician is responsible for the safe and reliable completion of necessary daily activities related to washing and maintaining heavy mining equipment. Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties: The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Unwavering focus on safety and environmental stewardship of the mine maintenance department and the people. Safe operation of the wash bay equipment including high volume wash stations and high-pressure wash systems. Safely move equipment in and out of wash bay and shop areas and follow the LOTO procedures. Wash all areas of heavy equipment and light vehicles prior to PM and other maintenance intervals. Become familiar with the water and pressure sensitive areas of the equipment and take precautions to prevent damage to components in these areas. Perform safety and operational checks on all equipment as part of the PM schedule. Maintain wash bay and wash bay equipment. Perform minor detailing of equipment cabs during PM services. Perform basic repairs such as water leaks, hose repairs, and other. Keep the wash bay, wash bay equipment, and portable wash equipment clean and ready for use. Remove sediments from the wash bay sump as required. Responsible for compliance with company contamination control policies and correctly dispose of sediments to protect the environment. Clean loading shovels and other equipment that cannot be brought to the shop in the field using portable pressure washing equipment. Ability to communicate effectively to supervisors and other technicians to ensure accurate information is passed on. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills: Strong, positive and effective communication skills, in English, using all normal forms of business communication are essential. Strong understanding of safety policies relating to mine equipment and maintenance practices (i.e. guarding, blocking, lock out tag out). Consistent attendance. Valid Driver License. Required Experience: Prior experience in maintenance or mining, preferred.
