The Archiving Technician plays a vital role in supporting the preservation, organization, and accessibility of both physical and digital records within the State Public Works Division (SPWD). Under the supervision of the Senior A&E Drafter, this position ensures that archival materials are properly processed, cataloged, and maintained for both current use and long-term preservation.
Key Responsibilities:
Collection, Digitization, and Records Management
Receive and organize physical and digital materials while preserving original order
Scan and digitize physical records to create high-quality digital surrogates
Ensure accurate and consistent metadata entry during the digitization process
Catalog newly digitized materials using SPWD archival standards
Maintain and monitor digital files for long-term storage and retrieval
Support occasional outreach initiatives, such as archival displays or events

Physical stamina and comfort with manual tasks (lifting boxes, shelving, bending, standing)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Understanding of archival ethics, confidentiality, legal standards, and copyright
Working Conditions:
Location: Primarily on-site in archive storage areas, including the basement of the Eicon building
Physical Requirements: Regular lifting, moving, and handling of archival materials
Additional Duties: Occasional participation in outreach events or exhibit installations
