The Language Access Coordinator ensures the effective implementation of the Nevada Secretary of State’s Language Access Policy, Plan, and Procedures. This role sets direction for language and plain language access across all departments, including translation, interpretation, and system accessibility. Key responsibilities include developing procedures, maintaining interpreter and bilingual staff databases, overseeing quality standards, coordinating training, and managing procurement for language services. The Coordinator also tracks usage, supports hiring practices to increase language capacity, and collaborates with stakeholders to improve access. Strong communication, cultural awareness, organizational skills, and confidentiality are essential.
Skills Required
· Multi-language communication skills
· Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and language issues and nuances Knowledge of, and experience with multiple Nevada cultures.
· Ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct.
