COST ACCOUNTANT Summary This position is responsible for maintaining an effective system of cost management and inventory controls for our Jackson, TN manufacturing facility. Also responsible to ensure timely and accurate recording of financial records and providing key management reports to facilitate management decision making. Essential Functions • Perform all cost accounting functions, including: all item master and costing maintenance, bill of material audit, standard costing, routing maintenance, calculating labor and overhead rates. • Interact with operations and engineering to ensure Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date. Review and audit BOM’s to ensure they reflect the latest manufacturing practices. • Analyze actual labor, material, and overhead cost against Standard/Budget. Research and explain variances. Report this information monthly or as needed. • Development of new labor and overhead rates, budget, and forecasts. • Perform ad hoc product/plant cost analysis to support the operations. • Perform inventory control and analysis to insure inventory accuracy. • Assist in gathering information for audits or examinations. • Perform monthly reporting (ex: inventory grading, inventory months on hand, variance analysis, and management reports). • Responsible for yearly physical inventory in Jackson • This position will be involved in several key projects each year. • Perform other related responsibilities as needed and as assigned. Minimum Qualification • Bachelors in Accounting • Five years Accounting for Manufacturing Preferred Qualification • Demonstrated interpretative and analytical skills, ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization to resolve issues • Ability to support a cross functional plant management team • Proven ability to prioritize objectives and duties
