Currently hiring for a Forklift/Trailer Mechanic in Buda, TX
Job Summary:
The Forklift/Trailer Mechanic will perform maintenance, service, and repairs on forklifts and semi-trailers used throughout the facility. Mechanics must be able to complete all fleet maintenance processes and ensure that units meet company and DOT standards. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Inspects forklift fleet to ensure they are working properly and safely.

Identifies any forklifts that need repairs.

Removes unsafe equipment from facility operating area and notifies supervisor.

Repairs and maintains diesel forklifts.

Tests forklifts to ensure repairs are completed correctly.

Schedules and performs routine maintenance for forklifts.

Maintains repair log for forklift fleet.

Completes preventative maintenance and repairs all systems on flatbed and bulk cement semi-trailers to meet the standards set forth by DOT.

Removes and replaces brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings, races, and associated parts.

Repairs electrical and lighting systems.

Repairs or replaces chassis components such as springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, and sub frames.

Repairs mud flap brackets and dolly leg assembles.

Understands and can perform brake service and inspection.

Expectations include the ability to diagnose and repair the following with little or no supervision: electric systems, air brake systems, ABS, and preventive maintenance service.

Conforms to all safety and health standards.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Must have own tools.
-
Ability to use hand and power tools.
-
Ability to read repair manuals for various types of equipment.
-
Excellent mechanical repair skills.
-
Ability to follow instructions.
-
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Basic computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer.

Basic welding skills (MIG and stick).
Education and Experience:
-
Completion of forklift mechanic’s training course preferred but not required.
-
1 - 3 years of experience in trailer repair or equivalent experience with welding, carpentry, and mechanic skills preferred.
Physical Requirements:
-
Must be physically capable of accessing all parts of the forklift/trailer needing repairs or maintenance, either by kneeling or lying on back.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and / or sit frequently throughout the duration of the day.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-
Attention to detail and highly organized.
-
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Pay is based on experience $25/hr-$32/hr
