Job Description: Assistant Superintendent

Location: Rio Grande Valley, TX


Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Superintendent with a strong background in commercial construction and proven experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC). The ideal candidate will assist the Superintendent in managing day-to-day operations on the jobsite, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and according to specifications. This position plays a key role in maintaining safety, quality, and schedule adherence throughout the construction process.



Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating all on-site construction activities under the direction of the Superintendent.
  • Monitor and enforce safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Support QA/QC initiatives by performing site inspections, identifying non-conformities, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Track project progress and maintain detailed daily reports and documentation.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to address and resolve project issues.
  • Review and verify materials, tools, and equipment are available as needed for scheduled tasks.
  • Conduct pre-task planning and quality walkthroughs to ensure workmanship meets required standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on scheduling, procurement, and construction methods.



Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial construction with a minimum of 2 year in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role.
  • Demonstrated experience in QA/QC inspections and documentation processes.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and project documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, or similar) is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
