Position Overview:

The Hot Mix General Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating all phases of asphalt paving operations on roadway and infrastructure construction projects across Texas. This role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) standards, company policies, and industry best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage daily hot mix asphalt paving operations on-site, including planning, crew supervision, and quality control.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet production goals and project timelines.
  • Ensure paving operations comply with TxDOT specifications, project drawings, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor crew members including operators, laborers, and truck drivers.
  • Conduct daily job site inspections and safety meetings; enforce all safety standards and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and inspectors.
  • Monitor and document daily work activities, crew hours, and material usage for reporting purposes.
  • Oversee asphalt placement, temperature control, compaction, and finish work to meet project and quality standards.
  • Resolve issues related to production, personnel, and job site logistics.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of equipment used in paving operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Strong knowledge of hot mix asphalt (HMA) placement, compaction methods, and TxDOT paving specifications.
  • Experience working on highway, municipal, or commercial paving projects in Texas.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and TxDOT standards.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be highly organized and capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license; CDL preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
