Jr. Estimator

Job Title: Junior Estimator

Location: Mission, TX

Reports To: Director of Pre-Construction and Estimating

Position Summary

The Junior Estimator provides direct support to the Senior Estimators in all aspects of bid and proposal preparation. This role is responsible for assisting in bid setup, cost analysis, data entry, and coordination to ensure accurate and timely delivery of estimates that align with company standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare bid setup, summary forms, and scheduling of bids.
• Enter and organize data for ongoing estimates and bid tracking.
• Review historical productivity and cost data to incorporate into future estimates.
• Assist Senior Estimators by performing take-offs and providing technical estimating support.
• Review project plans, specifications, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work.
• Maintain and update Heavy Bid databases including labor, crew, activity, and bid master codebooks.
• Solicit, document, and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotations.
• Maintain organized backup documentation for all estimate figures and assumptions.
• Prepare award-related submittals and assist in transitioning awarded projects to operations.
• Support the contracting team during bid inquiries and final evaluations.
• Perform additional assignments and duties as directed by the Director of Pre-Construction and Estimating.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• Prior coursework or experience in cost estimating preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Software Skills

• Required: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Preferred: Trimble, AutoCAD, or similar CADD software.
• Familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project).
• Experience with cloud-based project management and estimating platforms a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based in Mission, TX, with a standard office setting and occasional travel for pre-bid meetings or project site visits.
