Certified DOT Flaggers

A flagger is responsible for directing traffic around construction sites, ensuring the safety of workers and motorists by managing the flow of vehicles and pedestrians.

Key Responsibilities:

Traffic Control: Direct and manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones using flags, signs, and hand signals to ensure safety. 

Setup and Maintenance: Erect warning signs, cones, and barricades to create a safe worjoerk environment. Regularly inspect and maintain these devices to ensure visibility and functionality. 

Communication: Maintain clear communication with construction crews and other flaggers using two-way radios or hand signals to relay important information regarding traffic patterns and safety. 

Monitoring: Observe traffic flow and respond quickly to changing conditions, ensuring that any hazards are addressed promptly. 

Emergency Response: Be prepared to direct emergency vehicles safely through construction zones and respond to any incidents that may occur. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Certification: Valid DOT flagger certification is necessary, often obtained through training programs. 

Experience: Previous experience in construction or traffic control is advantageous but not always required. 

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and work in various weather conditions. 

Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills are essential for effectively directing traffic and coordinating with team members.
