Job description

The Quality Operations Technician will ensure quality and operational compliance to the customer and company specifications and have responsibility for the quality, food safety and esthetics of the product. The Quality Operations Technician follows through on set processes and ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: Quality Technician: 7 PM – 7 AM:

  • Responsible for monitoring and identifying critical control points (CCP) within the processes.

  • Responsible for monitoring processes and product food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Responsible for the correct documentation and filing of all relevant record logs and Documentation.

  • Ensures the correct recipe guidelines for products are met during processing.

  • Ensures employees are following all Food Safety and worker safety practices.

  • Ensures and educates employees on quality expectations.

  • Collect product samples for the Quality lab.

  • Perform inspections on in-process printing to ensure quality and accuracy of the print according to customer specifications

  • Identifying non-conformances and ensuring they are corrected “real time” when feasible.

  • Working directly with Operations on the presses, slitter, lamination, etc. to identify areas for continuous improvement.

  • Ensuring paperwork is accurate and filled out in a timely manner on the production lines.

  • The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

  • Complies with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and any job or department specific SOP’s.

  • SOP’s may cover the areas of (but are not limited to)

  • Employee Health and Safety

  • SQF (Safe Quality Food packager) and GMP (good manufacturing procedures) focused on eliminating contaminates in all packaging manufactured.

  • Must work within productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.

  • Special Projects & other duties as necessary

Qualifications: Quality Technician: 7 PM – 7 AM:

  • High school diploma required.

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in printing, food or regulated industry with knowledge of GMP’s (21CFR 110/111/210/211).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package software is essential.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.

Other knowledge, skills and abilities: Quality Technician: 7 PM – 7 AM:

  • Self-motivated with proven leadership skills.

  • Prior experience in food environment a plus.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

  • Must possess a positive “can do” attitude.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, effectively under pressure, and deadline-oriented environment

  • Flexible availability; we work night and weekend shifts.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality of information to Company and Federal standards.

  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

  • Must be able to make immediate decisions on disposition

  • Must be dependable and work within Company conduct standards; consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.

Physical Demands: Quality Technician: 7 PM – 7 AM:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for the duration of the production shift. The employee is infrequently required to sit; climb, balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must infrequently lift up to 40 pounds.

Working Conditions: Quality Technician: 7 PM – 7 AM:

In performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to dust, airborne particles, loud noises and ink fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud; ear protection is required:

  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment if in the production areas

  • Eye protection

  • Steel-toe shoes

  • Hair net

  • Hearing protection
