Our client, the City of Palm Springs is once again holding Summer Camp 2024.

 

Day Camp Unit Director

This assignment involves organizing and participating in the daily operation of the Summer Day Camp program in accordance with established schedules and standards, exercising independent judgment in solving program activity problems, and supervision of Unit Leaders and Camp Aides. The ability to work with others, including children, is extremely important.

 

Pay $17.00/hr

 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Day Camp Unit Director

  • Plan, organize, supervise and participate in scheduled sessions of Youth Day Camp.

  • Organize athletics, crafts, social, and instructional activities. Supervise and participate in various games and sporting events.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organizing and conducting public recreation programs.

  • First Aid/CPR practices and techniques. Record keeping and reporting procedures.

  • Instructional techniques and methods for recreational programs that serve a variety of interests and abilities.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead individuals and groups in recreational activities.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Perform related duties as required.

 

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

  • One (1) year previous experience working with children in a youth activities or learning environment is preferred.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older and possess valid California Driver's License.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification, during the day camp training starting from May 28, 2024 is required.

  • Must be available to work from June 10, 2024 through August 2, 2024.

  • Able to work at various Recreation Center locations including Palm Springs Leisure Center, Demuth Community Center, and the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center.

 

Selected candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation, physical and drug screen.

 

Working Conditions:

Work includes indoor and outdoor environments during summer months. Applicants must be able to work the entire summer camp program from June 10, 2024 through August 2, 2024.

(Training will commence from May 28, 2024 through June 7, 2024)

 

Selected candidates will not be employed by the City of Palm Springs and will apply with Proper Solutions for employment and placement in the Department of Parks and Recreation for the 2024 program.
