Report to Assembly Supervisor. Be responsible for inspection, assembly, packaging and deburring of parts and/or material by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints.

 

Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.

 

Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.

 

Operates drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation.

 

Inspects, deburrs, and properly cleans parts.

 

Operate and properly adjust all electric and air torque guns, and understand readings on torque wrenches.

 

Use hand tools correctly.

 

Must have good material handling skills.

 

Basic shop math.

 

Read and understand basic blueprints.

 

Read and understand procedures, methods, and routers.

 

Complete required documentation.

 

Correctly package material for shipment.

 

Know basic safety requirements.

 

Be responsible for keeping assigned areas safe, clean and healthful condition.

 

Assemble all units completely and correctly.

 

Detect and correct assembly problems.

 

Disposition discrepant material correctly.

 

Perform final inspection on completed product.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to operate specific equipment and tools. Ability to work with specific computer software.
