Tooling Designer- 6am to 4:30 pm Mon-Thurs

 

Established ISO 9001:2015 certified supplier of washers and stamping is seeking a Tool & Die Designer. Must be able to analyze blueprints or prototype parts to determine tools, fixtures, and equipment needed for manufacture. Also, plans sequence of operations for fabrication and assembly of products by performing designated duties.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

 

• Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

• Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

 

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and

procedural manuals.

 

• May be required to deal directly with customer, either over the telephone or in person.

 

• Progressive Tooling would be for Washers and Metal Stampings per the customers blueprint.

 

Quoting:

 

• Studies engineering blueprints, drawings, models and other specifications to obtain data on proposed part.

 

• Applies knowledge of functions and processes of various departments and capacities of machines and equipment to determine tool requirements and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts.

 

• Everything is based on the tonnage required. Master Products has the capacity to quote for parts that do not exceed 250 tons. The largest MPC press is 250 tons but would like to stay around 200 tons or so for press longevity.

 

• Creates strip layout for progressive and compound type tooling (multiple).

 

• The designer would be required to do designs for Progressive tools, Compound style tools and for “Short Run” style tools based on stock tooling.

 

• Lists operations to be performed on TM or SM, indicates time and material required for tooling needed and lists any concerns regarding the company's capability to meet the customer requirements.

 

Designing:

 

• Designs complete tool set on AutoCad 2018 Lite, complete with necessary detail drawings and tool path coordinates (edm).

 

• Specifies complete bill of material to be used in construction of tools including

specifying type of tool steel(s) to be used. Obtains quotes and releases purchase orders pertinent to die sets and components.

 

Experience and Education:

 

• Bachelor's degree (B.A) from four-year college or university: or one to two years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
