Are you experienced with CNC machine setups in a fast-paced metal manufacturing environment, including tooling changes, offsets, and troubleshooting programs? Do you take pride in accuracy, efficiency, and problem-solving on the production floor? We are now interviewing for a CNC Set Up II position on 1st shift in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

 

POSITION – CNC Set Up II
JOB LOCATION – Chippewa Falls, WI
STARTING DATE – Immediately
EMPLOYMENT TERM – Temp-to-Hire
EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time
WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – 1st Shift (Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pm)
STARTING PAY – $23.51 to $27.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)

EDUCATION – HS Diploma or equivalent required; 2-year technical certification or equivalent experience preferred
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – 3+ years of CNC setup experience in a manufacturing environment

 

As a CNC Set Up II, you will be responsible for advanced setup and operation of CNC machining centers to support production needs. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to resolve machining challenges while ensuring precision and efficiency. You will play a key role in supporting the production team by delivering high-quality, accurate parts while maintaining safety and process standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC machines for production runs, including selecting tooling, loading materials, and securing workpieces

  • Install, adjust, and maintain cutting tools, fixtures, and accessories according to job specifications

  • Program CNC machines using CAM software or manual programming techniques, and verify program accuracy with test cuts and inspections

  • Perform in-process inspections with precision tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure parts meet engineering specifications and tolerances

  • Monitor machining processes and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling, equipment, or programming to minimize downtime

  • Train and mentor junior CNC operators on setup and operation techniques

  • Perform routine machine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement

  • Accurately complete all required production documentation and inspection records

  • Follow all safety guidelines and contribute to maintaining a safe, organized work environment

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of CNC setup experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency with CNC programming languages (G-code/M-code) and familiarity with CAM software (Mastercam, GibbsCAM, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, and technical drawings

  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, materials, and tolerances

  • Skilled in troubleshooting machining issues and implementing process improvements

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to precision and accuracy

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
