Maintenance Mechanic

We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our Appleton client’s team in a manufacturing environment.
Position – Maintenance Mechanic
Job Location – Appleton, WI
Starting Date – ASAP
Employment Term – Direct hire
Employment Type – Full time
Work Hours (Shift) – 12 hour night shift
Starting Pay – $28 to $32 per hour

Required Education – High School Diploma/GED
Required Experience – At least 2 years of experience
As a key member of our maintenance team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safety and functionality of all our production equipment. Your primary duties will include:
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Quickly diagnose and repair mechanical issues across all plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PMs) to keep our machines in peak condition.
- Safety First: Maintain and exceed safety and quality standards by performing maintenance projects, ensuring machine guards are in place, and fabricating new guards when needed.
- Changeovers and Improvements: Assist with machine changeovers and contribute to the development of efficient grade change procedures.
- Technical Expertise: Apply your strong mechanical aptitude to solve issues, offering expertise in mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and assisting electricians with mechanical tasks.
- Part Management: Identify and communicate needed machine parts to the Purchasing department for repair or stocking.
- Process Improvement: Identify and report potential problems and solutions to improve the efficiency and functionality of our production assets.
- Compliance: Fully understand and comply with all Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Off-Shift Leadership: Function as the lead person during off-shifts, offering leadership and direction to team members as appropriate, and knowing when to escalate issues to management.
- Machine Operation (As Needed): Occasionally fill in as a Machine Operator in the absence of a qualified team member.
Qualifications
- Experience: At least two years of experience in machine maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Skills: A strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on familiarity with a wide variety of hand tools used for disassembling and re-assembling production machinery.
- Optional Plus: An Associate’s degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Machine Maintenance, or a related discipline is a definite plus!
- Work Style: A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a collaborative attitude, with the ability to provide direction and work effectively with a team. Electrical experience/qualification is a bonus!
