This position is responsible for the overall administration of the Company’s benefits program in accordance with plan documents, policies, procedures, and all applicable federal and state regulations.  The Benefits Consultant will analyze the flow of employee benefit data, develop and improve internal procedures, and facilitate the timely and accurate updates of employee benefit records.  Working closely with the HR Consultants and the benefits team, this position ensures that the Company’s benefits program is in compliance and works with the Benefits and Compliance Manager to develop a competitive benefits package for the Company’s employees.


Incumbent may perform all or any of the following:

  • Effectively and efficiently administers the Company’s benefits program, including medical, dental, voluntary and company paid supplemental insurance, FMLA, TDI and vacation and sick leave policies; this includes all aspects of administration such as the processing of enrollments, terminations and changes; notifications to employees and carriers; proper payroll deductions; COBRA; and proper eligibility and ineligibility processing.

  • Supports the 401(k) program and ESOP by assisting employees with questions, informing them on options, maintaining eligibility, sending proper notifications and processing all changes.

  • Supports the Benefits and Compliance Manager in coordinating the annual open enrollment process, and in all of the logistics and communication with the carriers, the locations, and the employees.  Responsible for all administrative aspects of the open enrollment and in processing all changes.

  • Oversees submission and response to unemployment claims as well as required reporting.

  • Reconciles all invoices from carriers against amounts collected and prepares requests for payment accordingly and timely.

  • Processes other deductions (such as garnishments) to employee paychecks as necessary.

  • Implements new benefits programs as needed.

  • Prepares various reports as needed.

  • Maintains integrity of data in all systems, ensuring accuracy.

  • Trains new employees on benefits package; develops and maintains Company benefits program documentation; updates SOPs; trains HR staff on benefits options and changes.

  • Responds to all inquires within one business day.

  • Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree or 35 years of related HR experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in workers compensation and benefits administration

  • Proficient in MS Programs

  • Must be detail oriented and organized
