Job Title: Central Distribution Center (CDC) Receiver Industry: Food Service Distribution Duration: Temp-to-Hire, ASAP – 6 months w/ possible extension Hours: Full-time, Early Morning Shifts, *flexibility required, may have to work weekends and overtime as needed* Location: Honolulu, HI Parking: Parking onsite Pay Rate: $17.00/hour This organization was founded in 1946 as a small poi milling operation with only three employees. As the company prospered, sprouts and processed vegetables were added. And now, seventy years later, the fourth generation, working with over 180 employees, continues to provide quality products for Hawai‘i and beyond. Throughout its history, local farmers have played an important role in the success of the organization. The organization continues its commitment to working to support our local farmers. Position Summary: This position is responsible for keeping the warehouse organized, orderly and clean by receiving all incoming products and storing them in their proper area, ensuring all items are in good condition and tagged appropriately and cleaning all areas in accordance with the Company’s food safety guidelines. Description: •Set up the warehouse by cleaning empty baskets and pallets. •Straighten out all product isles. •Ensure that all products have proper identification (i.e. pallet tag) and that all products are stored in the proper area. •Consolidate shipping loads for dispatch via YB and Uwajimiya. •Inspect, log and rotate all finished products. •Unload all incoming shipments and check quantity, quality and temperature of each product. •Maintain all log sheets in accordance with company and food safety standards. •Conduct daily inspection of all forklifts and equipment and notify the appropriate party/person if follow up action is necessary. •Maintain high cleanliness standards by participating in periodic scrubbing down of floors, walls and drains. •Properly manage nonconforming area and take appropriate action based on product’s condition (send to Foodbank, dump, etc.) •Conduct periodic inventory of all supplies (i.e. baskets, cleaning products, etc.) •Additional duties as necessary and assigned. Requirements: •Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language. •Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Position entails talking with co-workers, guests, and outside vendors. •Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. •Must possess basic computational ability. •Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail functions. •Must be able to interact with Department Heads and with other associates in a diplomatic and persuasive manner to foster cooperation and positive working relations. •Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions. •Supports the Company’s philosophy of innovation and change management by contributing to process improvements. •Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to details. •Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the associate acting as a team member. •Must be well-organized and able to work with minimum supervision. •Ability to work flexible hours. •Must be able to continuously walk, stand, push and pull items throughout the workday. •Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. •Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis. •Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. •Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with customers, supervisors and other associates. •Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. •Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands as well. •Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. •Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate equipment such as forklift, hand truck, dolly, temperature probe, etc. •High School Diploma or GED. •Type III driver license or higher ID# All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of background and reference checks.
