The Credit Union was founded as a financial cooperative to provide a place for longshoremen to cash their paychecks, save, and borrow money at reasonable loan rates. The Credit Union operated out of a small building next to the Local 13 Union Payroll Office cashing checks, taking deposits and loan applications for the longshoremen and their family members

Description:

Oversees the daily operations of the branch and assists the Branch Services Manager with managerial and administrative functions. Responsible for leading the member services team in building and maintaining solid member relationship. Supervise, train, coach, monitor, and provide guidance and assistance to the member services team. Maintains the standard of compliance and security while ensuring the delivery of excellent service in every member interaction. Reinforces the Credit Union’s Sales and Service culture by supporting the member services team in cross-selling products and services. Ability to analyze, design, and provide recommendations on the processes and service delivery efficiencies. Partners with the Sponsor Relationship Manager as the counterpart for Business Development within the Hawaii market.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Management

  • Oversees the daily responsibilities of the Member Services Team including teller and platform transactions/services

  • Maintains a highly motivated and well-trained staff through managing and coaching team to success.

  • Evaluates the knowledge and effectiveness of the branch team and their service to the membership

  • Responsible for hiring, scheduling, training team for efficient workflow, proper branch coverage, and high service levels.

  • Assigns, directs, coordinates, and review daily responsibilities of team members.

  • Coaches team to support personal development, areas of improvement, employee engagement, and increased knowledge across credit union departments.

  • Applies and evaluates policies and procedures established for the branch

  • Monitors branch activity, including number of transactions, volume, teller errors, and new accounts

  • Oversees the effective operation and performance of the ATM machines and Teller Cash Dispatch (TCD)/Vault

  • Assigns team to assist Business Development in the community and SEG events to increase membership, deposits, and loan growth.

  • Fosters teamwork with all departments.

  • Supports all branches with branch coverage, branch balancing, and opening and closing branches.

Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensures Credit Union compliance with all state and federal regulations pertaining to department and incorporates these compliance requirements into departmental policy and procedures which include, but are not limited to Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC, and Patriot Act.

  • Maintains an expert level of understanding of state and federal regulations and ensures branch compliance with all.

  • Ensures the interal controls are adequately reviewed (i.e. FM Reports, audit reviews, out of balance occurrences, etc.) to limit exposure to fraud and keep financial losses to a minimum.

  • Reviews departmental policies and procedures for compliance, service quality, process improvement, and operational efficiencies and shares changes with Branch Services Manager

  • Conducts branch audits and makes recommendations for operational improvement as needed.

  • Authorizes exceptions to normal policy or procedure when warranted based on established limits

 

Business Development

  • Under the guidance of Sponsor Relationship Manager, implement business development plan designed to meet Credit Union goals and objectives.

  • Participates in meetings with prospective ILWU officials to discuss the possibility of offering Credit Union services as a benefit of union membership; provide officials with the requirements and benefits of the Credit Union and encourage officials to apply for membership.

  • Cultivate professional working relationships with key contacts within the Credit Union's membership base and non-members at the ILWU Locals that the Credit Union can potentially serve.

  • Maintain positive relations and Credit Union visibility with potential and existing membership through ongoing communications and presentations at ILWU meetings, dispatches and events.

  • Network and participate in special functions, such as training seminars, annual meetings, presentations and Credit Union sponsored events.

  • Provide professional demonstrations or presentations of Credit Union products and services while on-site.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintains a high-level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all credit union products and services.

  • Works with branch team to meet/exceed established service goals

  • Serves as a point of escalation, handling employee and member requests, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally. Keeps management informed all department operations.

  • Reviews, identifies, analyzes, and recommends process/workflow changes to improve and maintain the highest level of operational efficiency

  • Adheres to the training curriculum for branch personnel.

  • Performs specific and delegated duties as assigned
