Job Title: Account Clerk III

Duration: 6 Months, Possible Extension

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:45AM – 4:30PM (45-minute lunch)

Location: Honolulu, HI

Parking: Not Provided

Pay Rate: $25.00/Hour

 

Description:

  • Assists the Department of Budget and Finance with fiscal operations and administrative support.

  • Performs reconciliation of bank statements and treasury records, verifying deposits and adjustments, and researching unreconciled items.

  • Prepares bank reconciliation reports using spreadsheets and financial applications, retrieving files from the state’s SFTP server.

  • Verifies the authenticity of all charges listed on the State’s bank statements to ensure accurate agency reporting and recording.

  • Identifies reconciling items between books and bank records by researching accounting records and documents, and coordinating with treasury staff.

  • Prepares correspondence to departments regarding deposits without Treasury Deposit Receipts (TDR), discrepancies, and unexplained debit/credit entries.

  • Clarifies differences between bank statements and Treasury Deposit Receipts.

  • Maintains daily reports of Collateral Securities pledged by financial institutions for treasury investment staff.

  • Processes collateral adjustment requests and safekeeping deposit/withdrawal requests from depository institutions and state agencies.

  • Reviews and recommends acceptance or release of securities held in safekeeping or pledged to secure State deposits.

  • Executes documentation for securities transactions for supervisor review and signature.

  • Additional duties include inventory record keeping, journal voucher generation, interest report distribution, and lifting/moving up to 25 lbs.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Experience with accounting records, including organizing, classifying, and recording fiscal information.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent phone and email etiquette.

  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic.

  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently.

  • Able to understand and follow directions with minimal supervision.
