  • Duty: Responsible for effective and timely scheduling of surgeries and tracking of surgeries assigned.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Solve problems effectively and communicate information well.

  • Ensure the system has correct patient information.

  • Ensure that insurance information is accurate and current.

  • Ensure that both the patient and provider sign informed consents.

  • Ensure appropriate schedule times for surgical procedures by working in coordination with the patient, surgeon assistant, anesthesiologist, surgeon, and hospital.

  • Obtain prior authorization from the insurance provider.

  • Schedule pre- and post-operative appointments.

  • Acquire post-operative reports from the hospital.

  • Demonstrate ability to coordinate blocking and unblocking of schedules so that clinic time and patient access are unaffected.

  • Promptly notify provider, nurse, and patient of abnormal PAP and Mammogram results.

  • Various other duties or special assignments as they come up.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

  • SKILLS:

    • Clerical experience, general knowledge of office procedures and computer skills

    • Medical office, medical insurance billing, or medical referral experience.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and the public. Strong and professional work ethic.

    • Expected to handle confidential information correctly.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to lift 40 pounds or move up to 100 pounds (by wheel) on occasion.

    • Must have high manual dexterity, including:

      • Ability to reach above shoulder level to work

      • Ability to bend, stand, sit, squat, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, twist/turn, finger and feel.

    • Must have good near-vision and ability to adjust focus.

    • Must be able to hear clients and staff clearly whether on phone or in person, and be able to speak clearly when communicating information back.

      • Noise level of work environment will generally be average.

  • EDUCATION:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
